FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H: Prediction, Latest Odds, Squad Analysis by GoalBible
The 2026 World Cup is almost here. As a punter who has followed the odds closely, I think this group offers some solid betting angles—especially if you’re willing to look past the obvious favorite.
Spain enters as the heavy favorite, but Uruguay has the pedigree to cause problems. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde will be hoping to play the role of spoiler. Let’s break down the fixtures, the teams, and where GoalBible sees the value in the markets.

Spain Group H Odds
Spain is the overwhelming favorite. Luis de la Fuente's side is currently number one in the FIFA world rankings, and they'll be expected to prove that status later.
Uruguay, currently ranked 17th, will provide a proper test. But when I look at Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, I think Spain should find those matches much easier to win.
Looking back, Spain's tournament record since winning it all in 2010 has been rough. A group stage exit in 2014. Then, back-to-back rounds of 16 exits in 2018 and 2022. That has been disappointing for everyone. But this year feels different to me. The squad depth is strong, and the team appears highly motivated.
Let's talk about that midfield. Pedri, Gavi, and Rodri are elite—three players who would walk into almost any starting XI in the world. Then you've got Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, and Fabian Ruiz waiting in the wings. That is remarkable depth.
Defensively, it's not the golden era of ten years ago. But Pau Cubarsí and Robin Le Normand give them solidity. In goal, Unai Simón and David Raya are competing for the number one spot.
Spain no longer has a pure number nine like Fernando Torres or David Villa. But honestly, I don't think they need one. Ferran Torres, Nico Williams, and Mikel Oyarzabal are all in their prime and performing at the top level in La Liga. And then there's Lamine Yamal. In my opinion, he's the most exciting teenager in world football right now. If he brings his club form to this tournament, he could be the difference-maker that carries Spain deep into the knockout rounds.
From a betting perspective, Spain at 1.20 to win the group isn't going to make anyone rich, but it's about as safe as it gets for an accumulator. The real value might be in backing them to win all three group matches, or looking at Yamal in the top goalscorer markets.
Uruguay Group H Odds
If you’re looking for a bet to shake things up, Uruguay is the one. They finished fourth in CONMEBOL qualifying, which is a notoriously brutal path. They’ve won this trophy twice (though not since 1950), but they know how to grind out results in tournament settings.
Their final group match against Spain looks massive. With the new format allowing eight of the 12 third-placed teams to advance to the round of 32, Uruguay’s main goal is to avoid an upset in their first two games. I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Spain a real run for their money in the last group fixture.
Saudi Arabia Group H Odds
Saudi Arabia has become a regular at the World Cup, qualifying for six of the last eight tournaments. However, the results have been tough—only four wins in 19 finals matches and only one knockout-stage appearance back in 1994.
Their qualification was messy. After finishing behind Japan and Australia, they had to scrape through the fourth round, edging Iraq on goal difference. I just don’t see the firepower here to compete with Spain or Uruguay over 90 minutes.
Cape Verde Group H Odds
Cape Verde qualifying for the World Cup caught everyone off guard. A nation of just 525,000 people, and here they are. They earned their spot too. I looked back at their qualifying campaign. They topped CAF Group D, lost only once to Cameroon, and picked up 23 points from a possible 30. What stood out to me was their defense. They conceded less than a goal per game on average.
Honestly, there aren't many names you'll recognize in this squad. Ricardo Santos is the only player based in England. The rest are unknown to most casual fans.
So yes, they are the rank outsiders in Group H. The odds reflect that. But here is my take. Do not write them off. This team knows how to grind out results. If they bring that qualifying form with them, they could make life difficult for Saudi Arabia and maybe even nick a point.
Group H Top Goalscorer Markets
Looking at the top goalscorer market, Group H has a few interesting names to consider if you’re betting on the Golden Boot.
