FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G: Prediction, Latest Odds, squad analysis and prediction by GoalBible
Belgium enters Group G at the 2026 World Cup as strong favourites, while Egypt and Iran sit in that uncomfortable middle ground where price and performance do not always align. New Zealand completes the group, mainly helped by the tournament expansion rather than global strength.
From a punting point of view at GoalBible, I always look beyond headline odds. Group structure, squad balance, and motivation across three matches often matter more than reputation alone. So, this article breaks down Group G outright odds, team form, goal scorer markets, and fixtures, with a focus on value rather than hype.

Belgium Group G Odds
Belgium enters Group G with a ranking of eighth in the world. From what I have seen in recent tournaments, Belgium no longer dominates matches the way they once did, but they remain efficient against weaker opposition.
Those Golden Generation years are clearly in the past. They never fully made the most of the world-class players they had during the mid-2010s. Even so, the 2026 squad still has plenty of quality, but if Belgium wants to go far in this tournament, they will need that talent to show up consistently on the pitch.
Kevin De Bruyne remains central to everything Belgium does. Even at 35, he was outstanding in qualifying, scoring six goals in eight matches. I was particularly impressed by the balance behind him, with Jeremy Doku scoring five goals, while Youri Tielemans provided three goals.
Belgium’s attacking output does not worry me. Defensive reliability is the area I worry about. The back line no longer has the authority it once did, and players such as Arthur Theate and Brandon Mechele do not offer the same leadership as past defenders, Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen. Thibaut Courtois’ form could be a decisive factor, as he is still widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football today.
Egypt Group G Odds
Egypt qualified comfortably from CAF Group A, finishing unbeaten and conceding only twice across ten matches. On raw numbers, that record stands out. I always caution punters, though, that African qualifying rarely mirrors World Cup group pressure.
Egypt is my second favourite in Group G, but their record at the World Cup finals is fairly limited. They reached the Round of 16 back in 1934, but in their only other World Cup appearances in 1990 and 2018, shows they were unable to come close to that level again.
Iran Group G Odds
From what I’ve seen over the past 30 years, Iran has become a regular presence in World Cup qualifying. Getting there is not new for them, as they have taken part in six of the last eight tournaments. The issue has always been the finals themselves, where they have yet to find a way out of the group stage.
Their path through qualifying was pretty smooth. Team Melli finished top of AFC Group A and ended up eight points clear of the United Arab Emirates in third place. They scored close to two goals per match and kept things tight at the back, conceding fewer than one goal per game.
New Zealand Group G Odds
From how I see it, New Zealand has benefited more than most from the expanded World Cup format. Coming through the OFC qualifiers, they now have a guaranteed route to the tournament, which makes regular appearances far more likely given the gap between them and the rest of the region.
Their qualification run was straightforward. The All Whites won all their group matches, scored 19 goals across three games, and conceded just once. They followed that by beating Fiji 7–0 in the semi-final and New Caledonia 3–0 in the final. This will be New Zealand’s third appearance at the World Cup finals, but they are still chasing their first win at the tournament.
Group G Top Goalscorer Markets
You cannot bet on group-only goal scorers, but you can back the competition top scorer. Several Group G players appear in that market.

Final Betting Thoughts From GoalBible
From my point of view, Group G is more predictable than other group. Belgium should progress as winners, but margins matter. Egypt and Iran will likely trade narrow results, and New Zealand faces an uphill task across all three matches.
If you are betting this group seriously, I would focus less on outright odds and more on match control, goal lines, and late-group scenarios. Those are the markets that usually offer clearer edges.
At GoalBible, that is always how I approach World Cup betting: read the whole picture first, prices second.
